It is not known exactly how many paintings and sketches Robert Henri completed in his lifetime.  The museum has prepared a list of the museums that were known to own his paintings and sketches but that is by no means definitive. Museums and gallerys often sell paintings to enhance their collections or expand them. At one time there were museums in thirty-four states that owned Henri painting along with two in Europe.
