Robert Henri

The Robert Henri Museum was the childhood home of Robert Henri, the famous artist. Henri's father, John J. Cozad designed it as a combination home and hotel to accommodate settlers that arrived on the train until other lodging was available. It was built with soft red bricks from Traber Gatewood's brick yard east of town. The Cozad family lived in Cozad until 1882. Robert Henri was 18 years of age when he left Cozad. The building is listed in the National Historical Register.
